Scarlett Johansson recently turned heads at the Golden Heart Awards in New York City, where she was honored for her charitable work with God’s Love We Deliver.
The actress, known for her roles in “Asteroid City” and “Black Widow,” donned a stunning plunging black Michael Kors dress paired with smoky eye makeup.
During her acceptance speech, Johansson, 38, expressed her deep commitment to philanthropy and shared personal stories about her challenging childhood.
She praised God’s Love We Deliver, an organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to those suffering from severe illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer.
“Throughout my career, I have witnessed the transformative power of philanthropy and activism,” Johansson said.
“The mission of God’s Love We Deliver goes beyond just providing meals; it’s about offering support, love, and dignity during life’s toughest moments.”
Reflecting on her upbringing, Johansson revealed her family relied on food stamps and government aid.
“As someone who’s experienced food insecurity firsthand, I understand the devastating impact it has,” she added, emphasizing the organization’s exceptional place in her heart.
Johansson also commended the volunteers, noting, “The struggle to put food on the table can lead to immense hardship and despair. But organizations like God’s Love We Deliver offer a lifeline, connecting individuals with resources, creating community support networks, and advocating for long-term solutions to address systemic poverty.”
In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, Johansson shared insights into her personal life, particularly raising her two-year-old son, Cosmo, with husband Colin Jost from “Saturday Night Live.”
She humorously described the challenges of parenting a toddler, noting, “The ‘Terrible Twos’ are more like tackling me – physically tackling me.”
Johansson also expressed excitement about Jost’s return to the SNL writers’ room following the recent writers’ strike.
“They’ve been desperate to return to work doing what they love. It’s an adjustment in the household with that crazy schedule, but seeing those guys at work is always exciting. They’re incredible, and we need them now more than ever.”
The Golden Heart Awards event also saw appearances from other notable celebrities, including Matt Damon, Rupert Friend, Neil Patrick Harris, Nicky Hilton, Nicole Ari Parker, and Julianna Margulies.
