At the start of the year, a ginger kitten found itself in a predicament until a kind-hearted woman came to its aid, changing its life forever.
Carmen Weinberg, who runs the Animal Friends Project in Delray Beach, Florida, was informed about a stray kitten that required urgent attention. A resident had discovered the kitten outside her house, persistently crying for help.

“The lady mentioned there was a distressed orange kitten in front of her house, suffering from mange—a skin condition—keeping its eyes shut,” Carmen explained to Love Meow.
Without hesitation, Carmen headed over to assess the situation. Upon arrival, she found the kitten in the yard, unable to see because its eyes were encrusted closed.

The moment Carmen stepped out of her car, the kitten meowed even more fervently, desperately seeking someone to notice and help it.
She offered the kitten a dish of food, which it eagerly began to eat. As the kitten focused on its meal, Carmen gently nudged the plate into a carrier, and the little one willingly walked in.

The kitten, named Simba by Carmen, had been starving and covered in a thick layer of mange. His eyes remained closed due to this coating.
Carmen took Simba home to begin his treatment. In the days that followed, the mange began to flake off, marking the start of Simba’s journey back to health.

“I applied coconut oil to soften the mange on his ears and head, then used a flea comb to gently brush it off. Afterwards, I took him to visit Dr. Maria Lowry at Chasewood Animal Hospital in Jupiter, Florida, for tests and vaccinations,” Carmen told Love Meow.
Simba received a much-needed bath and continued treatment, allowing him to finally open his eyes. With each passing day, he grew healthier and stronger—eating heartily, gaining weight, and reveling in his newfound freedom from discomfort.

“There is nothing like seeing a cat free of misery and relaxing,” Carmen remarked. “Simba regained his strength. Although he lost a lot of fur, his skin was healing beautifully.”
Simba’s spirits lifted with each encounter with Carmen, greeting her with a playful flop, ready for affectionate head scratches.

Gone were the days when he roamed the streets, unable to see. His resilience constantly inspired his foster family.

Within a couple of months, Simba grew back his distinctive ginger fur, along with his playful personality.
“Simba has been with us for six months now. He loves being petted and will even roll over for belly rubs,” Carmen shared with Love Meow.

The once-sickly kitten has developed into a stunning tabby cat. The transformation from the feline found on a doorstep to a healthy, happy cat has been incredible.
Carmen’s timely rescue gave Simba the chance to thrive, and now he is eagerly awaiting a forever home.

Spread the joy of Simba’s story with your friends.
