Earlier this year, a young puppy was found stranded in a tree on a central Georgia farm. The poor dog was without food, shelter, or any means to seek help.

Having been left outside in harsh weather conditions for four years, the puppy suffered from both thirst and hunger, exposed to both rain and intense sun. Weighing only 11 kg, well below the healthy weight of at least 20 kg for his breed, a Pit Bull, the dog had injuries covering his body.

The Cordele Animal Shelter, a local rescue group, responded to an anonymous tip about the dog. Upon finding him, they shared heart-wrenching photos and brought his situation to public attention via social media.

“This unfortunate animal desperately needs a new home to experience the love he has long missed,” stated a rescuer from Cordele Animal Shelter. “He is vulnerable and must find a place where he can receive the care he truly deserves.”

The rescued dog was initially given the nickname “Cocaine,” reflecting his tough past. Fortunately, after his rescue, he found a new home and began his healing journey. His resilience earned him a new name—Hero.

In his new environment, Hero has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the kindness and affection shown by his new owner, a stark contrast to his previous life.

The adoptive mother shared on Facebook, “He was fantastic. I gave him a small meal and set up his bed in the kennel. He came in, settled himself down, with night lights and a radio playing for comfort.”
