It’s truly heartbreaking to see so many dogs face hardship without getting a fair chance at life. Abandoned in poor conditions and left to fend for themselves, these pets often face bleak futures.
Such was the case for Sky, a dog found in an abandoned backyard. After enduring a series of unfortunate events, Sky had given up hope. But his story took a turn for the better when a compassionate woman arrived.
Sky’s history is indeed one of the saddest. Before being discovered by Liza, a dedicated animal rescuer, Sky had been abandoned and left with severe injuries. His face was marked by a wound, and his jaw was broken, rendering him unable to eat or even move his mouth. Malnourished and feeble, he could hardly stand.

When Liza first encountered Sky, he was a shadow of his former self and had lost all hope. He lacked the strength to get into the car, so Liza gently lifted him. Initially wary and shut down, Sky remained unresponsive. Yet, a spark of hope soon appeared.
“At first, he was so scared that I almost had to carry him to the clinic,” Liza shared on Instagram. “But after about half an hour together, he began nudging my palm with his wet nose, seeking affection, and his tail started wagging—a sign of emerging life, faith, and love.”
At the veterinary clinic, Sky’s condition was assessed. Besides his jaw injury, he tested positive for parvo and faced severe respiratory inflammation, as well as anemia. “Every day, his condition worsens with weight loss, inflammation, dehydration, and anemia,” Liza reported.

Liza and her team worked tirelessly to secure funds for Sky’s treatment. Despite the circumstances seeming dire, with multiple treatments needed for his jaw, their determination never wavered.
After months of dedicated care and a challenging surgery, Sky began to recover. He gradually regained weight and strength, stepping back from the brink of peril. Sadly, his snout’s condition could not be fully healed. “A stable bacteria has developed, and there’s nothing more we can do,” Liza explained.
Sky now requires daily care to manage his snout’s condition but has otherwise recovered well. He is on his path to being socialized with people and other dogs. Liza optimistically noted, “On the other hand, Sky is fine.”

The next hurdle is finding Sky a permanent home. As a special-needs dog, he requires an adopter who will lovingly dedicate time and effort to his continued care. Currently, Sky is in a foster home where he receives excellent care, but a forever home would offer the loving environment he deserves.
With hope, that day will soon arrive, and Sky will get to enjoy the comfort and security of a forever home. Good luck, sweet boy!
